The Skills in Demand 482 Work Visa (previously TSS Work Visa) is now the main temporary work visa in Australia.
Employer sponsors must be approved as a sponsor by the Department of Home Affairs. They can be a start up business or an existing business. The sponsor must meet certain financial and operational eligibility criteria including justifying that the nominated position is genuine and that no suitable Australian worker is available.
To be eligible, 482 work visa applicants must be qualified to work in their occupation or have a relevant formal qualification as well as 1 year of full time equivalent work experience in their occupation.
The Department of Home Affairs only allows occupations in the Core Skills Occupation List to be nominated.
